USABILITY
analysis and reports

Armed with a set of data we produce a usability report, comprising quantitative metrics, qualitative findings and our recommendadtions. There are also some specific approaches to analysing usability data.

Protocol Analysis

This is based upon asking a user to think aloud i.e. talk through what they are trying to achieve with an interface, as they use it. The resulting transcript can be used to extract a description of how the user thinks about their goals, tasks and priorities.

Task Analysis

It is important to capture the user's mental model of how they are to achieve a goal in order to design an effective interface. Task analysis entails decomposing a goal into a task structure, and representing the task flow. It is usually based on interviews and direct observation.
